Winter Wonderland (TEENS EVENT)

Hyde Park, London

“I met other young people with cancer and bonded over a really fun experience."

On Thursday 16th December, we met with 13 young adults along with some of their siblings and parents too at Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park, London. The venue was perfect for socialising with new people and catching up with friends made through Teens Unite.

We participated in some ice breaker activities and then went onto the big wheel which gave us some beautiful views of Hyde Park and some London landmarks. Some attendees even braved the XXL ride that spun in all directions!

We then sat down to eat from the street food market, which gave us a chance to get to know one another a little better. Walking around the stalls with a hot chocolate gave another opportunity to get to know other young people in a similar situation.

Feedback from the young people who attended the event shows that 100% felt more connected, 100% felt less isolated and lonely and 100% would recommend our activities to another young person.

You can take a look at what we got up to here

By coming along to this event, everyone was able to:
- Interact and socialise with others who get what they're going through
- Reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness
- Enjoy a new experience with the friends they’ve made

Putting your safety first:
Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of the young people we support, so although COVID restrictions have lifted, we're still taking the following precautions:

- All staff are double vaccinated
- Winter Wonderland is an outside venue
- All young people attending our activities are required to take a COVID test and show a negative result within 24 hours prior to an event or activity
- Numbers for our events and activities are currently restricted
- Hand sanitiser will always be available
- Young people are encouraged to wear a mask if it feels more comfortable to do so
