Meet Brandon, diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, aged 17

I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in May 2017, just after finishing my first year of college at the age of 17.

I had to drop everything I was doing due to prolonged stays in the hospital and the awful side effects of treatment that temporarily destroyed my mobility.

I spent 3 significant family member’s birthdays in the hospital including my 18th, which I actually spent in intensive care. Two days later, I went into cardiac arrest and was placed into a medically induced coma.

Losing my hair and an unhealthy amount of weight really did make me lose my confidence but through the help of Teens Unite, I’ve been able to meet others that have been through a similar experience which has helped me gain back that confidence I had before.

I’ve now been in remission for almost a year, and have been attending as many Teens Unite events as possible, creating memories and making new friends, feeling like part of one big family.
