Volunteers’ Week takes place annually on 1st – 7th June to recognise the contribution volunteers make within our communities. For Teens Unite, the support of volunteers is vital to our success, especially since opening The Jailbreak Café and Retail Outlet last year, both of which are located at our new offices within the former police station in Hoddesdon.
This year alone, 3,700 volunteering hours have been generously donated to Teens Unite by residents and businesses in the local community; the equivalent of two full time members of staff. Wow!
We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful team of volunteers who support us in a variety of roles. Their invaluable support means we can ensure the maximum time and resource is spent on helping young people living with cancer and the lasting effects of their treatment. Thank you!
Volunteering with us takes many different forms from supporting the charity team with fundraising events and office admin, to maintenance and DIY, to serving customers. And, volunteering is not just about what you can do for others, it's about what it can do for you too, from improving overall wellbeing, enhancing confidence and self-esteem, providing opportunities to learn new skills and meet new people, along with the pride and reward of helping others.
We are currently in need of volunteers to help us on a Saturday within The Jailbreak Cafe and Retail Outlet, which are currently open Monday - Friday and every first and third Saturday of the month. However, with the help of more volunteers, we would be able to open every Saturday to create further income for Teens Unite.
A variety of roles are available, from serving customers to managing stock, food preparation and clearing and tidying. Full training will be provided, and volunteers will complete all the necessary food safety and hygiene certifications needed to offer support within the café, free of charge.
This Volunteers Week, could you commit to supporting us one Saturday a month? We would love to hear from you!

Detailed below are our events for Teens, Volunteers, Fundraising and Challenges.
Volunteering with Teens Unite has changed my personality and outlook on life. When I hear all the amazing things the teens say about Teens Unite, I can tell they mean every word.
Teens Unite isn't just a charity to me, it was the beginning of restarting my life.
When Elliot started receiving the support of Teens Unite, I could see a change in him straightaway. His outlook on life was becoming positive again and I gained strength from seeing my little boy accepting what had happened and starting to move forward.
I needed help and that's where Teens Unite came in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and the reason I met Teens Unite was to save my life.
With Teens Unite, I finally realised that I could climb out of this massive hole that I had been digging because I wasn't alone anymore.
If it wasn't for Teens Unite, I wouldn't be where I am now. They have been really supportive and given me the strength to push myself and not give up.
