TYA Cancer Awareness Month

Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month returns this April. The focus for this years awareness campaign is on empowering young people around healthcare. Teens Unite will be joining 19 other charities in raising awareness of the specific set of challenges this age group faces during, and after cancer.

We know that teenagers and young adults who have experienced cancer also need ongoing support outside of medical care, and that's where Teens Unite comes in.

Too often there's an unfair expectation that life returns to 'normal' once treatment comes to an end, but cancer can impact the lives of teenagers and young adults for years to come. And, if unaddressed, will follow them into adulthood.

It affects both their mental, and physical health. At a time when NHS services are overstretched, we're working harder than ever to close the care gap, ensuring young people aged 13-24 have readily available support, whenever they need it, and for however long they need it for.

Please join us this #TYACAM in making a difference.

One of the ways you can do this is by signing up to the '7 for 7 Challenge'.

Taking place during Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May 2024), participants will complete 7 miles for the 7 teenagers diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

It’s a virtual challenge, and how and when you completed your 7 miles throughout the week is up to you.

It’s FREE to sign up, we just ask you to raise as much you can for Teens Unite. For every £10 you raise, you will receive an entry into our prize draw to win a family ticket to Hertfordshire Zoo (e.g raise £30 = 3 entries).
