Local Running Hero leads Fordy Runs team to Ragnar Relay Victory

Chris Ford, Founder of Fordy Runs; an online community for runners of all abilities, has led a team of 10 runners in the Ragnar White Cliffs Relay to raise funds and awareness for Teens Unite.

The Fordy Runs online community has nearly 5,000 members and Broxbourne resident, Chris is at the heart of it. He has become an iconic running figure in the local area and further afield, as he inspires the ‘everyday runner’ through his social media platforms and motivational vlogs; which all began when he was training for the London Marathon in 2017. Since then, he has been an Ambassador for the National Running Show 2019 and rubbed shoulders with running royalty; Roger Black, Paula Radcliffe and Iwan Thomas.

As an Ambassador for Teens Unite, Chris was determined to support the charity in his hometown by completing the relay challenge, which took place on 21st – 22nd September. Not for the faint hearted, the team completed 170 miles in just 24 hours, starting in Sittingbourne and crossing the finish line in Brighton. Each member of the team completed three legs, with each leg ranging between three and 11 miles; some of which were night-time runs.

Debbie Pezzani, CEO and Co-Founder Teens Unite has said: “Chris is an incredible Ambassador for Teens Unite – this was such a tough a challenge to take on and we’re so proud of the team for crossing the finish line. The support of Chris and the Fordy Runs community is invaluable and by taking on challenges and spreading the word, they really are making a life-changing difference, so thank you.”
