Joe, a Teens Unite Volunteer, has been announced as ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the Broxbourne Youth Awards in recognition for his achievements for the charity.
Joe was the proud and deserving winner of the Todd Waldock Young Entrepreneur of the Year award during the ceremony at The Spotlight, Hoddesdon on Friday 29th March 2019. Joe has been volunteering with Teens Unite for over three years now; often joining us at workshops, activities and stays as an extra pair of hands, as well as providing the team with regular office support.
Joe balances his volunteering alongside his part-time job at Ace of Lanes in Bishops Stortford and his work as a Special Constable for Hertfordshire Police.
Speaking of his achievement, he said: “Hearing Todd's story and what this award means to his family and friends makes this incredibly special. Todd maintained his warm, fun-loving personality and his sense of humour despite his cancer diagnosis and treatment, which connects amazingly well to the work of Teens Unite, who allow the young people they support to feel a sense of normality through connecting with others who understand what they've been through. It was amazing to see how he continues to make an impact on the lives of the people who knew him and it's an honour to receive an award in his name.”
Teens Unite nominated Joe for the award after he donated in excess of 80 volunteer hours in 2018. Since working on a particular project for the charity, he has secured product donations to the value of £19,000. These donations were gifted to the young people supported by Teens Unite during a recent motivational conference, Discover You, which inspires, guides and encourages them to take the first steps towards achieving their goals and aspirations in life following a cancer diagnosis.

Detailed below are our events for Teens, Volunteers, Fundraising and Challenges.
Volunteering with Teens Unite has changed my personality and outlook on life. When I hear all the amazing things the teens say about Teens Unite, I can tell they mean every word.
Teens Unite isn't just a charity to me, it was the beginning of restarting my life.
When Elliot started receiving the support of Teens Unite, I could see a change in him straightaway. His outlook on life was becoming positive again and I gained strength from seeing my little boy accepting what had happened and starting to move forward.
I needed help and that's where Teens Unite came in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and the reason I met Teens Unite was to save my life.
With Teens Unite, I finally realised that I could climb out of this massive hole that I had been digging because I wasn't alone anymore.
If it wasn't for Teens Unite, I wouldn't be where I am now. They have been really supportive and given me the strength to push myself and not give up.
