As many of you will know, our long-standing vision is to open a dedicated retreat for young people who are living with cancer and the lasting effects.
We're sure you've been eagerly awaiting an update from us following the decision made by Broxbourne Borough Council to refuse planning permission to build the retreat on Green Belt land we had acquired in Barrow Lane, Goffs Oak. We can now share the latest developments with you.
Following the decision made by Broxbourne Borough Council, we submiited an Appeal.
We have since received the news that the Appeal was dismissed.
In summary, the Inspector’s decision recognised the value and importance of Teens Unite, our work, and the benefit of the retreat, affording these considerations significant weight. In the circumstances of the appeal site however, these were not considered by the Inspector to outweigh the impact to the Green Belt.
Despite this set back, we want you to know that we are still just as committed to opening the first retreat in England for young people who have been diagnosed with cancer, as we have always been.
Now that we have an outcome of the Appeal, we can move forward and start exploring alternative options. We are now actively looking for an alternative location.
We would like to assure those who have supported us in our ambition to build the retreat, that all funds and services donated thus far, will still help us to achieve the same end goal.
We're not giving up - the need for a facility of this kind is more prevalent than ever as we continue to experience a rise in the number of young people registering for our vital support.
Staying true to our values, we will continue to deliver our vital, day-to-day support for young people, by hosting our regular activities at external venues. For the foreseeable future, we will continue to operate from our office in The Old Hoddesdon Police Station.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to sharing the next steps with you.

Detailed below are our events for Teens, Volunteers, Fundraising and Challenges.
Volunteering with Teens Unite has changed my personality and outlook on life. When I hear all the amazing things the teens say about Teens Unite, I can tell they mean every word.
Teens Unite isn't just a charity to me, it was the beginning of restarting my life.
When Elliot started receiving the support of Teens Unite, I could see a change in him straightaway. His outlook on life was becoming positive again and I gained strength from seeing my little boy accepting what had happened and starting to move forward.
I needed help and that's where Teens Unite came in. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and the reason I met Teens Unite was to save my life.
With Teens Unite, I finally realised that I could climb out of this massive hole that I had been digging because I wasn't alone anymore.
If it wasn't for Teens Unite, I wouldn't be where I am now. They have been really supportive and given me the strength to push myself and not give up.
