Reunion Stay- Bon Voyage

They say all good things must come to an end and today was the last day of our Reunion Stay 2018.

Today started with breakfast at the boarding house, where we reflected on our celebration dinner last night. It really was the perfect final evening, with everyone dressing up and enjoying a delicious three course meal.

Some of the teens shared their stories with the group and spoke about how Teens Unite continues to support them throughout their journey- it made emotional listening and really highlighted just how valuable our work is. Many of the young people attending the Reunion Stay are now in remission and although they may be 'cancer free' in a medical sense, the emotional, social and physical effects of a diagnosis are long-lasting.

It was then time to begrudgingly pack our bags, before having one final meal together. As lunchtime drew to a close, we started to say our 'goodbyes' and 'see you soon's'.

We've had such an unforgettable four days and it has been overwhelming to see so many friendships flourish. We've seen the teens grow in confidence, learn new skills, try different things and regain their independence.

One of the young people, Sarah has already said: "Thank you Teens Unite for everything you continuously do for us. You do not understand how much of an impact you have on our lives. It's the only time we get to feel like normal people! I will always be grateful!".

Thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped throughout the Reunion Stay, including IJ Cleaning who kindly helped to pack up the boarding house today and deliver it all back to the office.

Most of all, thank you to each and every one of the young people for being so inspirational and allowing us the privilege of being part of your cancer journey.
