Expectation vs Reality

There's just 39 days to go until the Helsinki Half Marathon on 9th June and as the start line draws nearer, supporter Mark shares his latest training update with us.

"I’ve been thinking a lot about my finishing time for the Helsinki Half Marathon in June and whether I’ll be disappointed at the finishing line. I’d planted the idea into my head that I would finish in one hour 45 minutes, but realistically I’m now thinking I will be closer to two hours.

But when I think of the disappointment I have to remember to be proud. Proud that I will finish (I just know with determination I will finish).

Proud that on rainy cold days I fought the temptation to say “I will train tomorrow”.
Proud of the effort made to train and prepare.
Proud of  fundraising for this wonderful charity.

Remember a 10K, a half marathon or a full marathon is a huge achievement and I should not let that be forgotten.

So with that in mind, I'm upping the mileage and continuing to follow my training programme so I can cross the finish line with a smile on my face."
