Costa Rica - Day Two

Day Two of the Costa Rica cycle is complete and it was one of the toughest days of the challenge. Nonetheless, spirits remain high amongst the team and they are embracing every second of the trip.

After a nutritious dinner and a good nights sleep at the lodge, the team were ready to face the challenging route awaiting them.

Starting with a climb along the ridge dividing the Reventazon and Pacuare Rivers, they were treated to spectacular views of the Turrialba Volcano and endless mountains and rainforests.

Much to the team’s relief, the second part of the ride today was downhill! They pedalled towards the town of Siquirres, a lively Caribbean town, where they were able to enjoy some local colour.

We managed to briefly catch up with some of the team including our CEO and Co-Founder, Debbie, who said their accommodation for the night is camping with no hot running water, no wifi and no lights - not their idea of fun especially after a 46km cycle! Despite how tired they all were, nobody really wanted to get into the tents they were sleeping in. They were thankfully able to get a lift to the nearest town from one of the tour guides, where they were able to pick up some refreshments to get them through the night.

Nevertheless, they’re persevering with the knowledge that their incredible efforts are helping Teens Unite support young people overcoming a cancer diagnosis and you know what they say; if it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you.

They settled into camp with a glass of ice tea and a traditional rice dish for dinner, before tucking in for the night and being at one with nature.
