Meet Zoe, diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, aged 20

Hi my name is Zoe, I’m 22 and I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia four months before my 21st birthday.

I was working with Qatar Airways at the time and was just starting to find my feet in the world.

When hearing the words "you’ve got cancer," it felt like my world came crumbling down.

Being the youngest of a very close family I was, and still am, a very self reliant person. In a way, my diagnosis took my independence away from me by causing me to rely on professional strangers.

My biggest struggle was getting worse before I got better, and knowing the possibility of my transplant failing.

I am currently 18 months post transplant.

Teens Unite have shown me there’s more to life after cancer. They have given me the opportunity and confidence to get back out in the world, and they've helped me adapt to my new ‘normal’.
